CITATION ON DR. TAYE ADENOWO OYEFOLU
Dr. Taye Oyefolu was born about decades ago into Osolu Royal
Family of Irewe in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State. He
attended L. A Primary School, in Irewe between 1975 to 1981 before
proceeding to Osolu High School, Irewe, and Unity Grammar School,
Ikare respectively, where he completed his secondary school education.
With his mind focused on the attainment of his desire in education, he
enrolled at the Lagos State University, Ojo, where he bagged a
Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology in 1997. Dr. Oyefolu pushed
further in search and thirst for knowledge and the Golden Fleece,
leading to being a holder of a Master’s and Doctorate degree in Public
Administration from Lagos State University, Ojo. Dr. Oyefolu area of
specialization in Public Administration is Human Resources and as such
he can teach and train employees in both Public and Private Sector
for optimal result and attainment of goals in the organisations.
Dr. Taye Oyefolu joined the services of the then Adeniran Ogunsanya
College of Education (AOCOED) now Lagos State University of
Education in 2001 as Administrative Officer II and as a result of hard
work rose through the ranks to his current position as Principal
Assistant Registrar.
Between 2001 and to date, Dr. Oyefolu has occupied different
administrative and strategic positions in the institution where he has
been able to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the institution.
This includes being the Programme Secretary, Directorate of Degree
Programme, Secretary Committee on Car Refurbishment and
Furniture Loan, School Officer, School of Vocational and Technical
Education, Programme Secretary, Center for Extra Mural Studies,
Member, Sub-Committee for Convocation Ceremony, Secretary,
Committee on Verification of Lagos State Indigenes Status, Secretary,
Board of Centre for Outreach Programmme, Secretary, Committee on
Land and Housing Allocation to AOCOED Staff, Secretary, Internally
Generated Revenue Committee, Secretary, Examination Malpractice
Committee. He was also the pioneer Administrative Secretary, Centre
for Lagos Studies in the then AOCOED in 2001
One of his numerous contributions to the institution is the College
telephone directory project he initiated which provides easy access and
communication among members of staff, as well as a backup to staff
telephone numbers for quick reference during distress calls.
Dr. Oyefolu has attended several international seminars, conferences,
and workshops including Public Enterprises and National
Development in Accra, Ghana, Workshop on Conflict Resolution and
Strategic Management at Technical University, Berlin Germany, and
master’s in public administration Seminar, an academic two-weeks
training programme in – South Africa. Nationally, he also attended
the Renewal in Colleges of Education in Nigeria, Information, and
Communication Proficiency Workshop, as well as Understanding the Application
of Rules, Regulations, and Observance of Procedures in
Institutional Administration among many others.
His previous publications include A.O.K & AOCOED at a Glance
(2005) and he is a contributor to a book chapter titled “Culture
Festival in Lagos State” In the book, Evolution and Development of
Lagos State (2003) edited by Professor Rasheed Ajetunmobi.
Some of his notable services to his immediate community and the
State include:
- Panel Member, Lagos State Bursary/Scholarship Award from 2008 till date.
- Chairman Bursary Award Committee Oto-Awori LCDA – both in 2021 and 2023
- Member, Ojo Local Government Bursary Award Committee 2010/2012
- Member, Five (5) Years Anniversary of HRM Oba Joshua Ilemobade Aina (JP) Oloto of Oto-Awori 2012
- Publicity Committee Chairman on 35th Anniversary of HRM Oba Momodu Asafa (JP), Onijanikin of Ijanikin, 2008
- Secretary of the Ijanikin Post Office Building project in 1997.
Politically, his contributions have also been felt. To mention just a few, this includes
- Chairman polling unit committee for APC in Badagry LGA – 2022.
- Returning Officer for APC Party Primaries for House of Representative and House of Assembly in Badagry, Lagos State – 2022.
- LGA Electoral Returning Officer for All Progressives Congress (APC) Party Primaries for Local Government Election in Badagry, Lagos State – (2021)
- Coordinator, Ojo Local Government for President Buhari Rally in Lagos 2019.
- Coordinator, Ojo Local Government Sanwo-Olu Foot Soldiers 2019.
- Team Leader, Sanwo-Olu Town Crier Campaign Initiative for Rural/Riverine Communities of Epe and Badagry Division (2019 & 2023).
The Author of the new Book Customs and Traditions of the People of Lagos State is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Management of Nigeria. He has won numerous awards including the National Union of Lagos State Students (NULASS) Merit Award. Dr. Taye Oyefolu is happily married and blessed with children.
